The Powell GROWL Student Newspaper Staff Excited to See Their Work in Newsprint

Members of Powell Middle School’s newspaper staff hold up their first edition of The Powell GROWL featured in Hernando Sun last week. They are slated to “takeover“ pages of Hernando Sun several more times this school year. Hernando Sun Publisher, Julie Maglio (far right), stopped by to bring them a newspaper box to distribute The Powell Growl (left). These students already produced one edition of The Powell GROWL this year, prior to their feature in the Hernando Sun. Under the direction of their teacher and advisor Derek J. LaRiviere, the students work in teams based on the departments of a newspaper such as layout, photography, sales and reporting areas including sports, news and features.
