A lawn mower fire is being blamed for igniting a brush fire that drew fire crews from Hernando County Fire and Rescue (HCFR) and Florida Forest Service – Withlacoochee Forestry Center to northern Hernando County over the weekend.
According to the HCFR, around 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 4, the fire agencies sent five brush trucks, three engines, two tankers, and command staff to fight the fire on Hebron Church Road, which is estimated to have engulfed 10 acres.
Despite its size, the HCFR said no primarily residential structures were damaged in the fire. Crews remained on the scene until the blaze was completely contained.
