Shortly after Gov. Ron DeSantis ended his 2024 Presidential run, State Sen. Blaise Ingoglia (R-Spring Hill) lent his support to former President Donald Trump.

“We need a strong leader to turn our country around before it’s too late,” Ingoglia said in a written statement. “ President Trump has proven he can help create a strong economy and an even stronger America.”

Ingoglia’s statement was issued just after DeSantis suspended his campaign for the Oval Office on Jan. 21 in a video posted on the X social media platform. DeSantis said that the decision was made after his second-place finish behind Trump in the Iowa Republican caucus on Jan. 15.

“This is America’s time for choosing,” DeSantis said in the posting. “I can’t ask our supporters to volunteer their time or donate their resources if we have no clear path to victory – It’s clear to me that the majority of Republican voters want to give Donald Trump another chance.”

As a result, DeSantis pledged his support for Trump. “Donald Trump is superior to Joe Biden – that is clear,” he said in the posting. In his written statement, Ingoglia said that the country is “in crisis.” “We need a strong leader to turn our country around before it’s too late,” his statement said. “As a party, we must unite behind President Donald J. Trump.”

Florida’s Presidential Primary election is slated to take place on March 19.
