A Night to Remember, the 60th-anniversary gala and fund-raiser for the Humane Society of the Nature Coast, will celebrate a rich and robust six decades of caring for and about animals in need in this area.

The semi-formal, black tie optional, Humane Society 60th Anniversary Nature Coast Dinner/Dance is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 17, 6-10 p.m., at Silverthorn Golf and Country Club, 4550 Golf Club Lane, Spring Hill.

“This in-person event promises laughter, joy and celebration as we mark this incredible milestone,” read an event notice. “Come and show your support as we raise funds for a great cause.”

A Night to Remember honors those four-legged friends who need special care and attention.
“All donations go directly to the Humane Society of the Nature Coast. We have 17 dogs and probably twenty-some in foster care; we have 80 some cats,” said Johanna Blosser, Volunteer and Events Coordinator for the Humane Society of the Nature Coast. “We are a non-profit 501c3 organization that is donation-based. We are a no-kill 90% shelter. We help Hernando, Pasco and Citrus counties. We provide a community pantry outside of our building that allows pet owners struggling financially to pick up bags of food, no questions asked. We are working on educational meetings for the community and are set to host a free vaccination clinic sometime this year.”

Guests are encouraged to dress to impress as they dance the night away and enjoy a sit-down dinner.

“Our meals will feature steak, chicken, fish or vegan, appetizers, dessert, cash bar,” said Blosser. “We will have a silent auction, live band and dancing.”

Up for raffle and auction, says Blosser, will be a sparkling array of gift baskets offering many fun and fanciful treats and luxury items.

“Gift baskets include “Beers From Around The World,” one from Mountaineer Coffee, Rust to Roses Vintage decor,” she said. “We have plenty of auction items, including an electric bike, designer scarves, purses and belts, etc.”

Joyce, a member of the Marketing Committee of the Humane Society in Hernando County, is pleased to participate in this special event.

“Animals are always there for us; they love us unconditionally,” she said. “The funds raised from this event will help us provide a good place and good care for the animals.”

And the event is a grand celebration of animals and those who love them. “Don’t miss out on this special occasion,” read the event notice. “Grab your tickets now and be a part of history. See you there!”

Write [email protected] or call 352-796-2711 for more information. Purchase your tickets in person at the Humane Society, 7200 Mobley Rd., Brooksville, or at the website: www.humanerescue.org. In addition, items are greatly appreciated for the auction/raffle. Tickets are $75.
