On Thursday, February 8, 2024, the Hernando Girls Wrestling team scored their third straight district title with ten girls in the finals. Seven would become district champions. The Lady Leopards scored 211.5 total team points, more than 100 points difference than 2nd place Sunlake at 92 points, leaving no doubt they are the best girls wrestling team in the state of Florida. They are currently ranked number 18 in the nation.
“I believe so much in every girl on this team and I can’t wait to watch them finish this season strong!” Coach David Pritz, head coach of the Hernando Wrestling Team said.
The top four in each weight class will advance to the FHSAA Regional Championships on February 16, 2024, at Osceola High School.
17 girls from Hernando County will continue their run for the state championships.
