It was a chilly evening under the lights as the Central Bears took on the Weeki Wachee Hornets at their home field last week. Weeki Wachee would score the first run in the first inning but it would be the Bears who would rally with five runs in the second.
Talyn Poole (Jr) with a lead-off single, a walk for Dylan Lama (Jr), and a successful bunt by Jaydon Warren, would load the bases with no outs. Tristan King (Jr) would tie the score 1-1 with an RBI single. Ryan Engley (Jr) with a two-run single added to their lead 3-1 and the Bears would never look back. Justin Tranum (Sr) would bring in two more runs before the end of the second inning, bringing the score to 5-1.
The score would remain 5-1 until the top of the 5th inning when Saul Melendez (So) of Weeki Wachee would have an RBI bringing the score 5-2. It would be at the bottom of the 5th that the Bears would dominate the contest scoring seven runs initiating the ten run mercy rule and ending the game 12-2.
The Weeki Wachee Hornets hosted the Central Bears at home on Friday, Feb. 23 and the Hornets proved to be a tougher opponent. Weeki Wachee defeated the Bears 3-1.
