In recognition of Newspapers in Education (NIE) Week, the School Board issued a proclamation in support of the use of newspapers in the classroom as a valuable educational tool. The Hernando Sun and Tampa Bay Times were recognized for their contributions in providing newspapers and instructional support through their NIE programs. In addition to newspapers and instructional materials, the Hernando Sun also dedicates pages in their print edition to feature school newspapers, The Weeki Wachee Buzz and The Powell GROWL.
