High Point Lions Club will spring into summer at their annual craft bazaar on Saturday, March 23, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the HP Community Center, 12249 Club House Road, Brooksville, rain or shine. Aside from offering a vast array of arts and crafts, the fair stands to benefit many of the signature causes for which the Lions Club is known and loved. Plus, this year, a very famous and fanciful special guest will be on hand to bring further color and brightness to this festive occasion.
The Lions Club, according to a related mission statement, “meets the needs of local communities and the world every day because they share a core belief: to serve their community.”
“Last year’s spring into summer craft bazaar cleared $1400, which helped us support quite a few programs, both here locally and internationally,” said Gwen Roy, High Point Lions Club spokesperson.
“Annually, we have donated upwards of $24,000.” These funds go to support a myriad of valuable agencies and community efforts throughout Hernando County. “To the following, just to name a few,” said Roy.
“Local food banks run by individual churches, People Helping People, Hernando, both monetarily and also providing meals for the homeless when requested, Nature Coast Community Services (homeless), Operation Heartfelt (backpack meals for needy students), Hernando Lighthouse for the Blind, Youth Exchange Scholarship Fund (vests), Beauty of Sight, Florida Diabetic Retinopathy Foundation, Lions Diabetes Camp for children, and Leader Dogs for the Blind. These are additional programs to the traditional Diabetic and Eyesight Foundations to which we contribute.”
The High Point Lions Club’s Annual Craft Bazaar ranks among the club’s biggest fund-raisers.
“In order to reach our goals of supporting the above causes, our annual craft fair is one way we raise funds,” said Roy. “We anticipate having a minimum of 60 crafters and vendors inside our community center and in the parking lot at 12249 Clubhouse Road in Brooksville. Saturday, March 23, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.”
Spring Into Summer offers a rich, bountiful myriad of beautiful crafts sure to enhance the seasonal design schemes of shoppers, along with some exquisite fine artwork, lovely bejeweled pieces, fine fiber arts, and some tasty treats. In addition, food for thought can be found in the sublime form of books and puzzles available at the bazaar. Lawn decorations made of plants, basks, and wood will be available.
“We have artisans of farmhouse, coastal, and floral designs, bird houses, planters, and a wide variety of mixed media artists using items such as glass, copper, and paints to create,” said Roy. “Of course, many seamstresses have new innovations this year, not to mention numerous jewelry designers, along with culinary interests in jams, jellies, and infused olive oils. Our library also has a sale of overflowing books and puzzles to clear shelves.”
“Something for everyone!!!” Breakfast and lunch sandwiches will be available for sale throughout the day. And, to help guests spring into summer, a special guest will be on hand at the Spring Into Summer Annual Craft Fair.
“We also will have our Easter Bunny there,” said Roy, “promoting an Easter egg raffle with terrific prizes!” The High Point Lions Club meets the second Thursday at 7 p.m. at the High Point Community Center, 12249 Clubhouse Dr., Brooksville.
