Smoke inhalation is being blamed for the hospitalization of a Masaryktown resident after a fire swept through their mobile home.
According to Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) Communications Manager Nick Brandt, just after 2:30 a.m. HCFR crews responded to a report of a house fire in the 200 block of Monroe Avenue in Masaryktown in unincorporated Hernando County. Upon arrival, they found a mobile home completely engulfed in fire.
After crews confirmed that all of its occupants had exited the home, one was taken to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Crews had the blaze under control within 30 minutes of their arrival, but the home was declared a total loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but its preliminary cause appears to be electrical. The Red Cross is assisting those who were displaced by the blaze.
