Residents of Brooksville and elsewhere in Hernando County who are concerned about flooding in their neighborhood are invited to attend a public meeting on March 28 in Brooksville.
During the meeting hosted by the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council (TBRPC), Hernando County and the City of Brooksville, residents may identify areas that are prone to flooding, recommend ways to make the area more resilient to flooding from storm surges, extreme rainfall and other flood-related events.
They may also help Brooksville and Hernando County governments prioritize the most significant risks.
Information obtained at the public meeting will be used in the TBRPC Vulnerability Assessment Report to detail the depths of water caused by different flooding events, measure the impacts of those events on critical regional assets, and identify areas that qualify for funding through the Florida Resilient Grant Program to improve those flood-prone areas.
The meeting will take place on March 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Pasco-Hernando State College, North Campus, Building B: Rooms B-104/B-105, 11415 Ponce DeLeon Blvd. In Brooksville.
In advance of the meeting, residents may complete the TBRPS Community Vulnerability Study survey available at TBRPC Hernando County – City of Brooksville Vulnerability Study.
