Brooksville Elks Lodge #2582 will make organizational history on May 11, when the organization hosts its first annual 2024 Elks Charity Golf Tournament at Hernando Oaks Golf Course, Hernando Oaks Golf and Country Club, 5230 Delacroix Dr., Brooksville.
This event will feature 18 holes of golf, a cart, reception, breakfast and lunch, and range balls—all included in the price of registration.
“This will be the inaugural golf tournament for Brooksville Elks Lodge #2582,” said Dana Cutlip, Elks Lodge #2582 Chaplain and Chair of the Elks Lodge Golf Committee. “Being a first-time event, we are excited to be working with Hernando Oaks Golf Club, an excellent golf course and facility to hold our event. Hernando Oaks is in the best shape I have seen in quite a while. The event will be on May 11, 2024, with an 8:30 a.m. start time.”
Cutlip anticipates a well-attended tournament filled with fun and prizes. “We are expecting a field of at least 60 players, with prizes going to the top 3 teams (each team will get a trophy and a prize for their accomplishment),” he said. “There will be other prize giveaways for the longest drive for men and women and the closest to the pin.”
A four-person scramble, raffle prizes, and giveaways will also be part of the tournament experience. “There will be raffle prizes as well, where individuals can purchase tickets and take their chance on winning. A few of our raffle prizes are handmade by members of the Elks Lodge, and they simply are magnificent to look at,” said Cutlip. “There will be Mulligans for purchase, and we will also have an “Elks Cooler of Cheer,” in which members of the Lodge are graciously donating items to put in the cooler. Tickets can be purchased separately for this raffle.”
Beyond the sporty spirit of this celebratory tournament lies a vital mission to raise needed funds for a variety of Elks causes, including community outreach projects that the club undertakes to serve the people of Hernando. “Net proceeds from this event will benefit the lodge and the many charities that we support,” said Cutlip. “A few of those charities are New Beginnings Youth Shelter, K9 Partners for Patriots, Rachel’s Room, People Helping People, The Life Center of Hernando, and others.”
Indeed, Cutlip emphasizes that the Elks exist to serve. “We look forward to this being an annual event,” he said, “and know that once people understand who the Elks are and what we do in the community, they will want to support us in this and other events that we have throughout the year. I hope to see you on the course; if not this year, then next year.”
May 5 is the deadline to register for the first annual 2024 Elks Charity Golf Tournament at Hernando Oaks Golf Course. Prices per player are $110, for a team of four players, $400, and hole tee sponsors pay $120. Other sponsorships are available.
“Being a first-time event, you never know what the outcome will be, but so far, we have been doing very well for sponsorships and teams,” said Cutlip. “There are only a few days left to get your team registered to play.”
