A Message to “We The People”

This work that I present to you all today is a bit different in the way how I usually do things. I have been asking people’s opinions on various topics of concern, and this is just one of the replies that I felt merited further attention and an audience of more than one! The title of this essay is, “We The People,” and was done by a retired preacher in our county named Guy Markley, a fellow veteran (and patriot).

I have known Mr. Markley for well over two decades, and as is not the only one of my acquaintances with similar views (to mine), his words are presented in a way that is worthy of repeating. It is a good thing when people get out of their comfort zone and spend their valuable time and resources for the betterment of not only our beautiful county but this great country as well. As I construct this brief forward, I did contact the editor of the paper to give her a heads up on what I had intended, and she “one-upped” me by mentioning that Mr. Markley’s piece will have its own standing! We, as a nation of mixed races, religions and values, are blessed with so many things (like the freedom of speech). If we get so “soft” in our natures to neglect to embrace and guard these constitutional “rights,” they may be quietly and stealthfully taken away from us by those who wish harm and doom for our nation. Before I finish my thoughts, I need to share with you a “gem” of a book (that Guy gave me) called “The Role of Pastors and Christians in Civil Government,” authored by David Barton and put out by the publishers at Wallbuilder Press. If you want to strengthen your resolve in standing against tyranny (and misled “talking heads”), you should check it out! So now, I (and the Hernando Sun) give you the thoughts and words of Mr. Guy Markley.

We The People
By Guy Markley

Three little words with such a big meaning. Where have they gone? They were made part of our constitution for a reason and somehow, we have forgotten about them. Our Founding Fathers were so brilliant, yet we today have no idea what our constitution is all about. It is our “ace in the hole.” It should mean so much to us but it does not. It means, “We, the people, are in charge.”
However, we have forgotten that our power is in the “ballot box.” So many people forget about voting or just do not care. Think of all the men and women who have died for us to continue to have that right. Why should we forget about one of the most important things the Founding Fathers gave us? As the saying goes, “If you do not vote on Tuesday, don’t complain on Wednesday.”
Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous rule, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.”
Where we will be after the next election depends on “We the people.” Voting is a God given and Constitutional Right, not to be taken lightly.
We need to rediscover the Three Little Words, “We the people.”
