Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Drug Arrest of Weeki Wachee Man

On May 9, 2024, near the intersection of Mariner Blvd and Cortez Blvd, a Hernando County Sheriff’s Office deputy pulled over Nathan Benedict of Weeki Wachee, age 35, due to inoperable tag lights and a broken tail light on his silver Chrysler sedan. Benedict consented to a search of his vehicle after stating there was no contraband inside the vehicle, according to the arrest affidavit. The search yielded the discovery of 2.9 grams of methamphetamine, two pills containing amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, 0.9 grams of marijuana, and a brown pipe. He was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Equipment. His bond was set at $6000. His arraignment hearing is set for June 13, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. with Judge Stephen Toner Jr. presiding.
