Are you hungry for more family-friendly comedic entertainment served by talented performers on a dynamic local stage? Get ready for a second serving of Troupe du Jour! Live Oak Theatre invites the public to the second comedy night performance of its own family-friendly comedy troupe, Troupe du Jour, on Friday, June 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Carol & Frank Morsani Center for the Arts, 21030 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Live Oak Theatre Company (LOT) is a not-for-profit 501(C)(3) repertory company of local artists located at the Carol and Frank Morsani Center for the Arts, 21030 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville.
The Live Oak Theatre Company has a mission to enrich families, individuals and the community as a whole by providing positive artistic experiences in the performing arts—including excellent, affordable, and edifying entertainment for all ages, performance, and educational opportunities for Theatre patrons and participants of all ages.
Vanni shared that audiences demanded an encore performance from the troupe that has quickly developed a massive fanbase here in Hernando County since its debut show in April.
“The feedback to the first show was fantastic,” said Vanni. “We ended up selling out all seats…much to our own surprise since this was our first show. Families were driving from St. Pete Beach, Indian Rocks Beach, East Pasco, and Marion County.”
Troupe du Jour, produced by Dan Torres, offers family-friendly fun that is humorous, unpredictable, comedic, and joyful as the Troupe takes to the stage to present a one-of-a-kind, improv-style show, one where the audience inspires all games, all improv skits, all actors’ choices.
“This second show offers more of the same!” said Vanni. “Some situational comedy skits and improv games with audience participation.”
Troupe du Jour is presented by a cast of veteran actors whose talents shine regularly on the Live Oak stage and elsewhere.
“Troupe du Jour is our very own troupe of veteran performers, many of whom have appeared throughout the Bay area…. And beyond,” said Vanni. “Troupe du Jour members include the talents of veteran improvisers Darryl Knapp and Nick Russo, as well as Live Oak favorites Eli Oliveri, Elijah Torres, Amy Norris, Kealy Hunter, Christopher Richards, Dawn Hester and veteran performer Alex Rivera.”
Like other Live Oak shows, Troupe du Jour performances are aimed toward the entire family, and all ages are welcome.
“We have a reputation for family-friendly humor and they don’t need to leave the kids at home,” said Vanni. “These shows reflect the Live Oak mission in that it provides quality entertainment… but also Family Friendly.”
Vanni states that is exactly what keeps devoted audiences coming back for more du Jour. “The audience left telling us that they had such a great time with their children or grandchildren,” said Vanni.
Tickets for the second Live Oak Theatre performance of Troupe du Jour cost $10 when purchased in advance; 24 hours before the show, the price increases to $15.
