Twenty-two-year-old Gabrielle Bohn was convicted of manslaughter after she shot and killed her fiance.
On April 20, 2023, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from a woman on Nordica Road in Weeki Wachee who was giving her son CPR after he had been shot in the head. The man was rushed to Tampa General but died from his injuries on the way to the hospital.
Police later discovered that Bohn had been lying in bed with the victim when he was shot. Bohn said she had been trying to hand her fiance the gun when it accidentally went off, shooting her fiance in the head. However, the victim had not been reaching for the gun when it went off.
Bohn told authorities they had previously been arguing about his drug problem when Bohn had placed the gun in her waistband. When the gun went off, the witness, who was the victim’s mother, came running out of her room. When she went into the couple’s room, she saw Bohn holding the victim. The victim’s mother, who is a nurse, performed CPR on her son, trying to save his life and called 911.
According to the arrest affidavit, Bohn stated multiple times, “It was an accident,” and she “did not mean to shoot him.”
However, Bohn was arrested on April 20, 2023, for manslaughter by culpable negligence, and her bond was set at $10,000.
On June 6, 2024, Bohn was convicted of manslaughter after pleading guilty to the charges. She will be serving 15 years in the Florida Department of Corrections, followed by ten years of probation.
