Music and visual art are two popular, deeply meaningful art forms that bring great enjoyment and intense cultural enrichment to the lives of millions of people. Both of these art forms will be celebrated and unified to wondrous effect as Ever After Gallery Presents “Unplugged: A Journey Through Art and Music.” This one-of-a-kind, highly creative exhibit debuts 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, at Ever After Gallery, 13053 Spring Hill Dr, Spring Hill.
Ever After is a custom tattoo studio specializing in quality tattooing that exhibits original artwork by artists across Hernando County and the nation.
“Music and visual art are intertwined and often inspire each other,” read a statement specially prepared for the Hernando Sun by The Ever After Gallery. “We want to explore how they related to each other in the eyes of our artists.”
This exhibit is a wide scale, all-encompassing exploration of the vital link between art and music.
“The exhibit consists of 25 pieces of artwork,” said Viviana Kohlas, Ever After spokesperson. “We have so many different media, including screw art, resin, wood, button art, oil on canvas, acrylics, and more.”
Just as diverse are the talented pool of local artists that are bringing Unplugged to the walls of Ever After Gallery. They include local luminaries Karen Governale, Johan Casadiego, Steve Mullins, Lauren Ireland, Leslie Eyre, Dee Dee Seruga, Michelle Gallo, and Steven LaMantia.
Spring Hill artist Karen Governale’s dazzling portrait of country music superstar Dolly Parton is prominently displayed in the Unplugged exhibit.
“I have my BRAND NEW Dolly Parton screw art piece! She’s made from over 3,000 screws, 3D butterflies, a miniature replica of her favorite guitar adorned with Swarovski crystals, a Hollywood star, on a wooden blue stained resin coated background!” she said. “It measures 40” wide x 32” tall.”
Governale’s work can also be seen currently in the Shades of Purple exhibit at Gallery 201 in Brooksville, as part of the Mobile Mural and the Mermaid Tale Trail projects, and many others.
In this exhibit, Johan Casadiego also presents some atmospheric, ethereal artworks that depict the very essence of musical performance. “I will have two pieces at the exhibit,” he said. “I am very pleased and honored to have two of my paintings in this upcoming exhibition. I stopped by today for the first time and I loved the place. I love how they have the gallery set up. It is going to be a great exhibition.”
Casadiego recently won two major art awards from the Cancer Tamer Breast Cancer Mermaid Project and the SENS Empower Hernando Families Art Contest. His work has also appeared in the Art and Wine Stroll, the Hernando Beach Front Porch Art Walk, the Mobile Mural tour, and many others.
In staging the exhibit’s July 20 opening reception, exhibit coordinators promise an evening of artistic expression featuring immersive experiences, unique interpretations, and celebration. The Ever After Unplugged exhibit will be open until September 21. Find Ever After Gallery on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/ever after gallery.
