Early Monday morning, July 22, around 3:29 am, Hernando County deputies responded to a stabbing at a home on Florentine Court in Spring Hill. A caller reported that an elderly man had stabbed his adult son during a fight.
When deputies arrived, they found an elderly man walking down the street covered in blood and holding a knife. He was detained at the scene. Inside the home, deputies discovered two injured men. One had cuts on his hand, while the other had stab wounds to his chest and back. Both were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover.
The elderly man told investigators that he had recently arrived from another country to visit family. While they were drinking and talking an argument with his son turned violent. Another family member tried to intervene but was pushed aside. Fearing for his safety, the elderly man said he grabbed a knife to defend himself and stabbed his son multiple times. He then fled the home as, even though his son was stabbed, he kept coming after him.
The man with the hand injuries confirmed the elderly man’s account of the incident. Detectives were unable to interview the stabbing victim due to his inebriated condition.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
