Running a Stop Sign Results in Fatality

MASARYKTOWN- According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 61-year-old male from Weeki Wachee driving a Honda Accord was traveling west on Hodza Street in Masaryktown on Aug. 2 at 9:47 p.m., when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of US 41.

The Honda Accord entered the path of a Dodge Ram pickup traveling north on US-41, resulting in the pickup colliding with the Honda Accord. Then a GMC Envoy traveling behind the pickup also struck the Accord after it rotated in the intersection.

The Weeki Wachee man driving the Accord suffered fatal injuries, while the passenger in the Honda Accord, a 52-year-old woman from Youngsville, NC suffered serious injury. The driver of the Dodge Ram pickup, a 51-year-old female was seriously injured as well, while the passenger of the pickup had minor injuries. The driver of the GMC Envoy suffered minor injury, while the passenger had no injuries.
