Mariner’s Cay Teen Shooting Victim Dies, Three Teens Arrested in Connection with Shooting Death

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office disclosed that one of the five people in the vehicle that took on gunfire at Mariner’s Cay Apartments on the evening of Aug. 18 has died. The victim was a 16-year-old boy.

On Aug. 19, the Sheriff’s Office revealed more details about the shooting at Mariner’s Cay Apartments in Spring Hill, including that the five victims in the vehicle were teens, along with the three individuals connected with the shooting.

The other two teens who sustained gunshot wounds, ages 15 and 17, are expected to make full recoveries.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation revealed the shooting was the result of an ongoing feud between several of the teenagers, who had recently engaged in a physical fight.

Additionally, as the vehicle carrying the five teens entered the Mariner’s Cay apartment complex on the evening of Aug. 18, they began taking gunfire. The driver of the vehicle immediately drove to the Mariner Commons shopping center, where one of the teens went inside Publix to ask for help. Deputies responded to the shopping center around 7:40 pm.

The Sheriff’s Office has also released the identities of the teens involved in the shooting, who were taken into custody shortly after the incident. Tarian Rush, age 18, was charged with 2nd Degree Murder and two counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.

Uriah Booker, age 17, was arrested on a charge of 2nd Degree Murder – Accessory After the Fact.

Damarion Hall, age 15, was charged with Accessory After the Fact to 2nd Degree Murder. All three were located by deputies in an apartment at Mariner’s Cay.

Rush, an adult, is being held without bond at the Hernando County Detention Center. Booker and Hall, both juveniles, were transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Ocala, where they are being detained without bond.
