There was a 30-year period of time when what is now the May-Stringer Museum was a rental property. The Museum is compiling information on the house and grounds in preparation for the book Suzanne Touchton is writing. The approximate time frame is from 1954 to 1980. Marguerite Stringer Gwinn was the last Stringer family member to live there. Marguerite died in 1954. Her estate conveyed the house to Dr. and Mrs. Earl Hensley in 1961. The Hensleys owned the house for about 20 years before conveying it to the Hernando Historical Museum Association.
If you ever lived there or know someone who did, please let the Museum Association know. Your information including stories, letters or photographs is sought in order to tell a thorough story of the house. Please call 352-799-0129 and leave a message for Mary Sheldon.
