“A day without laughter is a day wasted” — Charlie Chaplin.

Following the continued success of its season debut in August, Hernando County comedy fans are invited to sample another exuberant performance from Live Oak Theatre’s Troupe du Jour. The theatre’s family-friendly comedy troupe will perform Friday evening, Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Carol & Frank Morsani Center for the Arts, 21030 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville, Florida 34601. Doors open at around 7 p.m.

It promises to be a night of family-friendly unpredictability, laughter, and joy as the troupe takes the stage to create a show that no one has seen before, nor will anyone ever see again. All games, all improv skits, all of our actors’ choices will be inspired by you, the public.

“The response to the Troupe Du Jour has been wonderful since our very first show in March. We hope to continue bringing lots of laughs to the community with every show,” said Dan Torres, producer of Troupe du Jour.

Live Oak Theatre spokesperson Vince Vanni credits the Live Oak cast with outstanding talent and experience. The troupe consists of seasoned veteran performers, many of whom have appeared throughout the Tampa Bay area and beyond. Members include the talents of veteran improvisers Darryl Knapp and Nick Russo, as well as Live Oak favorites Eli Oliveri, Elijah Torres, Amy Norris, Christopher Richards, Dawn Hester and veteran performer Alex Rivera.

“I believe that the wholesome family feel of Troupe du Jour shows keeps audiences coming back for more,” said Vanni. “What keeps people coming back is, first, that all the humor is family-friendly,” he added. “People do not have to leave the kids at home because they are afraid of inappropriate material for youngsters. We like to think that we follow in the footsteps of comedians like Red Skelton, who was always family-friendly. People have come to our Comedy Nights from as far north as Ocala and as far south as St. Pete Beach and Indian Rocks Beach — just because they don’t need to leave the kids at home.”

Darryl Knapp, an improviser of over 25 years and lead performer in the troupe, said, “The troupe has been really jelling and bonding together. And it really shows when we are on stage together performing for Live Oak audiences in our family-friendly shows. We’ve had a great mix of both returning and new audiences and that can’t be beat.”

Tickets are $10 when purchased in advance; 24 hours before the show, they will increase to $15. Concessions will be available for purchase before the show and during intermission.
