Sadly, Moira Bossard, age 80, the Spring Hill woman who went missing on Wednesday, Oct. 8, was found inside her vehicle submerged in a body of water in Pasco County.
She was last seen on Wednesday when she was entering the hurricane shelter at Challenger K-8 on Elgin Boulevard in Spring Hill, but there was no record of her checking in at the shelter.
She drove to the shelter in her vehicle, a 2021 white Toyota Corolla 4-door, bearing Florida tag/ Y31HIP.
Prior to driving to the shelter, neighbors described Ms. Bossard as “confused” – stating that she left once and returned home because she was lost. She also talked about “driving to Tennessee to be with her family.”
She had not been diagnosed with any type of cognitive impairment, and did not meet criteria for a Silver Alert.
The criteria for Silver Alert, according to Florida Department of Law Enforcement are:
– The person must be 60 years and older; or, The person must be 18-59 and law enforcement has determined the missing person lacks the capacity to consent and that the use of dynamic message signs may be the only possible way to rescue the missing person.
– Must have an irreversible deterioration of intellectual faculties (e.g. Alzheimer’s disease or dementia) that has been verified by law enforcement.
