Pups Get Blessed

On Saturday, Oct. 5, St. John’s Episcopal Church in Brooksville held a Blessings of the Animals ceremony. A handful of people took the opportunity to have their animals blessed by Fr. Gene Reuman. Blessings of the Animals corresponds with the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, as Saint Francis is the patron saint of animals. Barbara Clements of Brooksville and her dog, April, were two of the attendees. April is almost ten years old and the last time she was blessed, she was just a puppy.
Clements said, “It is a blessing to have your pets blessed.” Each pup in attendance received a sprinkle of Holy Water with their blessing. April was a little bit thirsty, so she had some to drink as well.
