With Veterans Day on the horizon, the Florida Garage Door Pros are proud to announce that they will be giving away free garage door openers to those brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms.
Starting Monday, the Spring Hill-based business is set to announce one winner per day of the week through Friday. The winners will be picked on Sunday, November 10, and there are still several spots available. Florida Garage Door Pros’ Office Manager Elizabeth Austin encourages veterans to sign up online for their “Rewarding Our Warriors” drawing to be a part of it.
“We are a veteran-owned company,” said Austin. “One of the owner’s fathers was a veteran as well. So, it’s just near and dear to everybody that’s a part of the ownership of the company. Just for the areas that we live in, there are just so many veterans that do need help.”
The local garage door business also participates in various other philanthropic efforts including scholarship partnerships with the Greater Hernando Chamber of Commerce and supporting the Wounded Warrior Project.
They are considering holding another “Toys for Tots” toy drive this year as well. Austin noted that in years past, they have given away several discounts, including free tune-ups, to those who have brought in games and other such playthings for children.
The business will be looking for even more ways to help our veterans in the coming years because of how much they care. Austin added that, “just those few people that we can help, it makes it worth it, but we just want to be able to branch out.”
Beyond prioritizing our heroes because of the holiday, the Florida Garage Door Pros do so because they are a veteran-owned company. In addition to one of the owners’ fathers having served, the business also employs several former service members as well. With this in mind, they strive to provide critical help to veterans in need across the state, but how?
“We go into so many homes where their doors are just completely destroyed, they’re in wheelchairs, they’re disabled, and they need to have access,” Austin continued. “They call us and they just can’t afford to even get it remotely fixed. So, that pulls on our heartstrings a lot […] we’re here to do it for you because a lot of people just don’t realize how important having a functional garage door is. It seems like just an amenity, but it’s not. For some people, in order to get medical help for things like that, it needs to be functional.”
The Florida Garage Door Pros service Hernando, Pasco, and all other counties across the state. They have been in business for five years and are comprised largely of former employees of a local competitor. Austin adds that the company does things a little bit differently from the other corporations in their field, from lower prices to service calls and events.
Individuals can sign up for a chance at the free garage door opener by going to the Florida Garage Door Pros website and holding the cursor over the “About” tab. Once there, applicants can press on the “Rewarding Our Warriors” option and fill out the accompanying form.
