On September 24, 2024, Jill Renee Blueford, age 45, was sentenced to 32 years in prison for the felony 2nd-degree murder of Danny Joseph Alley in February of 2021. The defendant had been released on bond earlier that same month following her incarceration for Burglary of a Dwelling and other charges in 2020.
According to the Arrest Affidavit/First Appearance Form, Ronald LaCorte placed a call to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office on February 22, 2021. He informed deputies that Peter Guptail (a neighbor down the street) had information regarding a deceased individual in a house located at 8080 Greenbrier Court in Spring Hill.
The male victim, now known to be Alley, age 47, was believed to be murdered with an axe several hours earlier. Those in the house had been “sitting on the body,” presumably working out what to do next.
Once they arrived on the scene at 10:30 that evening, deputies were informed by Blueford that the deceased “had been receiving threats due [to] him raping women,” the affidavit continued. The body was found under a large piece of carpeting in an additional “tool room” built in the garage area.
During an audio interview, Mr. Guptail noted he had been over at the house earlier that day to visit his friend and co-worker, Anthony Buccellato, when Buccellato informed him that Danny had passed. Buccellato believed Jill or an unknown female was responsible.
Mr. Buccellato had reportedly been at work throughout the day and only arrived home between 2:30 and 3:00 pm. Shortly after, he attempted to return some tools to the room, but he found it locked. The assailant reportedly told Buccellato and fellow roommate Paul Bartlett that “Danny is no more, he’s gone. I took care of our problem,” the affidavit elaborated.
Bartlett noted that Alley had been residing in the house for roughly four months. Paul described Blueford, who had only lived there for one day, as a “raving lunatic.” Independent statements combined with her previous admission to her roommates led officers to determine probable cause for one count of 2nd-degree Murder with a Deadly Weapon.
Blueford was arrested with no bond on February 23, 2021, following her release on bond just nine days prior. The sentencing and case details are listed below:
Introduction or Possession of Contraband into Correctional Detention Center – Adjudicated Guilty – Sentence: State Prison 5 Years – Status: Concurrent – Date Imposed: 09/24/2024
Murder in the Second Degree – Adjudicated Guilty – Sentence: State Prison 32 Years – Status
Concurrent – Date Imposed: 09/24/2024
The cases are marked as “concurrent,” which effectively means the longer of the two sentences will be served; the two will not be combined. As she had been arrested for her previous charges in 2020, she has already served 3 years, 11 months, and 17 days of her now 32-year sentence.
Her three previous charges for which she was out on bond were listed as RCO (Recommitment) by the sheriff’s office to denote “the return of the defendant to the custody of the sheriff following revocation or forfeiture of bail,” as defined by the Idaho Bail Act.
The Sun will continue to follow Blueford’s and other such cases and provide updates to the public when possible.
