A Central High School student has been arrested after making an online threat to “shoot up” the school.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by the FBI on December 2, 2024, about an Instagram post that read, “This is how I’m going to shoot up Central High School Lunch B December 3rd, 2024.”
Detectives with the Special Investigations Unit quickly traced the IP address to a residence on Chaucer Drive in Spring Hill. The Crime Analysis Unit identified Sebastian, 16, a Central High student, as the suspect.
After being read his rights, Sebastian admitted to managing the Instagram account and making the post, which he claimed was a joke, saying he thought “it would be funny.”
Sebastian was taken into custody without incident and charged with felony written threats to kill or injure. He was processed at the Hernando County Detention Center before being transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice facility in Ocala.
Authorities emphasize the seriousness of such threats, even if intended as jokes.
