Disaster Recovery Center to Close This Saturday at West Hernando Branch Library and Relocate to East Hernando Branch Library

Hernando County Government announces that the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), currently located at the West Hernando Branch Library (6335 Blackbird Ave., Brooksville, FL 34613), will close this Saturday, December 7, 2024, and will relocate to the East Hernando Branch Library, effective Monday, December 9, 2024. The East Hernando Branch Library is located at 6457 Windmere Rd, Brooksville, FL 34602 and will continue to provide vital services to those affected by recent disasters.

The DRC at the East Hernando Branch Library will operate Monday-Saturday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, weekly, offering assistance to disaster survivors seeking federal help, including information on FEMA applications, disaster loans, and available state and local resources.

Updated DRC Hours and Location:

Current DRC Location Closure: Saturday, December 7, 2024 (West Hernando Library)
New DRC Location: East Hernando Branch Library, 6457 Windmere Rd, Brooksville, FL 34602
New DRC Hours: Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Disaster Recovery Centers are critical for those who need assistance with federal disaster aid, updating FEMA applications, and learning about additional disaster recovery programs. At the East Hernando Branch Library, survivors can receive help with:

Learning the status of FEMA applications
Understanding FEMA letters
Small Business Administration (SBA) loan information
Other resources available from state agencies and FEMA

Survivors do not need to visit a center to apply for assistance. Homeowners and renters are encouraged to apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by using the FEMA App. You may also apply by phone at 800-621-3362. Lines are open every day and help is available in most languages. If you use a relay service, captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA your number for that service.
