The Solid Waste Department announces that free disposal for storm debris taken to the landfill will officially end on January 4, 2025. After this date, all storm-related debris brought to the landfill will be subject to regular fees and policies. To ensure a smooth transition, residents are encouraged to bring their storm debris to the landfill on or before Saturday, January 4, 2025.

The free disposal service was put in place to help residents clean up following recent storm damage. Starting Monday, January 6, 2025, the Solid Waste Department will return to normal operations and policies.

The County’s contracted storm debris company will be continuing to pick up curbside for no charge until further notice. If you need free curbside storm debris picked up, please call 833-307-5580.

For more information on storm debris disposal, fees, or how to properly dispose of other waste materials, please contact the Solid Waste Department at (352) 754-4112 or visit www.HernandoCounty.us/SolidWaste.
