FHP Seeks Driver Who Fled Crash Scene of Car with Fake Plate

Authorities are searching for the driver who crashed a vehicle with a false license plate near the intersection of SR 50 and US-98 in the early morning hours of Jan. 14.  

According to Florida Highway Patrol, on Jan. 14, 2025, at 5:08 a.m., the driver of a Mercedes C Class sedan was traveling eastbound on SR-50 at a high rate of speed. Near the intersection of US-98, the driver lost control and the vehicle departed the roadway. The vehicle entered the right shoulder and collided with an FDOT street sign and fence, then finally collided with several trees before coming to a final rest. Following the crash, the unknown driver fled the scene on foot, leaving behind the vehicle with a fictitious California license plate.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call *FHP (*347) or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.
