A 29-year-old Spring Hill man is facing multiple charges related to child pornography, including possessing material generated using artificial intelligence, in what authorities say is the first such case in Hernando County.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said detectives began investigating on Oct. 16, 2024, after receiving a tip about child sexual abuse material (CSAM). A search warrant was issued for a residence on Bishop Road, where investigators identified Jack Holden Boston as the suspect.

On Nov. 19, detectives executed the search warrant and made contact with Boston, who admitted to owning a social media account containing CSAM and acknowledged being aware of the material. Boston was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device. He was booked into the Hernando County Detention Center and held without bond.

Further investigation, including an extraction of Boston’s cellphone completed on Jan. 10, 2025, revealed three files of CSAM and six files of AI-generated child pornography.

While already in custody, Boston was charged on Jan. 17 with three additional counts of possession of child pornography and six counts related to AI-generated material. He remains in jail without bond.

Sheriff Al Nienhuis emphasized a zero-tolerance approach to child sexual abuse material. “Any and all tips are and will be meticulously investigated. No stone will be left unturned,” Nienhuis said in a media release. “Any person who possesses material of this nature will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
