A Weeki Wachee High School student was arrested on Thursday, January 30, 2025, after Hernando County Sheriff’s Office detectives linked him to the possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
The suspect, identified as Matthew Tyler Woolever, 18, was charged with three counts of possession of child pornography and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
According to the HCSO, detectives launched an investigation into Woolever on Jan. 3 after receiving information regarding the possession of child pornography. Probable cause was established, leading to a seizure warrant for his cell phone.
On Jan. 30, detectives executed the warrant at Weeki Wachee High School, where they made contact with Woolever. During questioning, he admitted to owning the social media account that contained CSAM and acknowledged that he was aware of the illicit content.
Woolever was taken into custody and transported to the Hernando County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.
