Florida State Senator Blaise Ingoglia Proposes Constitutional Amendment Limiting Florida Legislators to 16-Year-Total Term Limits

On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Florida State Senator Blaise Ingoglia (R-Spring Hill) proposed SJR 536, a constitutional amendment limiting Florida legislators to 16-year-total term limits. The amendment would be voted on in the November 2026 cycle.

“This proposed term limit amendment will ensure members of the Florida Legislature are limited to 16 years TOTAL— 8 years max in the House, and 8 years max in the Senate. The legislature should never be a revolving door for elected officials. This practice of legislators terming out and continually running for the same office is ludicrous and must stop! Serving the people of Florida should be a privilege, and an honor, not a career,” said Senator Blaise Ingoglia.
