The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office reports that close to midnight on Feb. 28, a shooting incident occurred outside of Capone’s, a bar located at 10463 County Line Road, Spring Hill.
The suspect in the shooting fled the scene in a white Dodge Ram truck prior to deputies arriving on scene. No one was injured in the shooting.
Witnesses at the scene advised the unknown suspect, who was later identified as George Labar, age 40, was involved in a physical altercation inside the bar. Labar was then escorted to the parking lot by bar staff.
An argument continued outside, where Labar then got into his vehicle and drove away while discharging several rounds from a firearm.
Two of the rounds struck an exterior window of the bar, causing it to shatter.
Detectives were able to positively identify the shooter as Labar. A warrant was issued for Labar’s arrest on charges of Shoot/Throw Deadly Missile (at a Public Dwelling) and Discharging a Firearm in Public (from a Vehicle), both charges are second-degree felonies.
The Pasco Sheriff’s Office assisted in helping to locate Labar who lives in Hudson.
On March 2, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office was able to locate Labar driving in his vehicle. Labar proceeded to flee from Pasco County deputies. Labar later crashed his vehicle into multiple objects, including a fence and a patrol vehicle. Labar was taken into custody following the crash.
As a precaution, Labar was transported to an area hospital for treatment of some minor injuries, some of which appeared to have occurred during the incident at Capone’s.
Upon questioning, Labar refused to cooperate with investigators about the incident.
In addition to the warrant, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office arrested Labar on charges of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Fleeing to Elude Law Enforcement with Injury/Damage, Driving while License is Suspended or Revoked (third or subsequent violation), Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription, Resisting an Officer without Violence, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
