Two Spring Hill men have been arrested following a shooting at a party in Webster that left an 18-year-old man injured, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) announced Monday.
Deputies responded to a residence on Ranchette Boulevard around 12:30 a.m. on March 8 after reports of a shooting. Witnesses told authorities that a male victim had been shot and that the suspects had fled the scene in a Ford F-250.
The victim, who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, was transported to a hospital for treatment.
According to witnesses, the shooting occurred after a physical altercation at the party between the victim and 20-year-old Daniel Moore. During the fight, Moore’s friend, Harley Wilkerson, 20, allegedly fired several rounds from a handgun into the ground in an attempt to break up the altercation.
Wilkerson and Moore then entered the Ford F-250 with another individual to leave the party. As Moore drove away, Wilkerson fired several rounds from a rifle into a crowd of people standing outside, striking the victim, according to deputies.
A short time later, deputies located the suspect’s vehicle near Spring Hill Drive and Coronado Drive in Spring Hill. During a traffic stop, authorities found Wilkerson, Moore, and another person inside the truck, along with a rifle and a handgun.
Witnesses positively identified Wilkerson and Moore as the individuals involved in the fight and shooting. Wilkerson admitted to detectives that he fired the rifle into the crowd.
Wilkerson was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder with a firearm, aggravated battery, and shooting from a vehicle. He is being held without bond at the Hernando County Detention Center.
Moore was arrested and charged as an accessory after the fact of attempted second-degree murder with a firearm. His bond was set at $5,000.
