A Spring Hill man was arrested on March 14 and charged with attempted murder following a domestic dispute, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a residence on Higgins Street around 9:14 p.m. after receiving a report of a shooting.
The victim told dispatchers that she had been arguing with her ex-husband, Jerimiah Andrew Carr, 44, with whom she currently shares a residence along with their two children.
The argument began after the victim received a phone call from her new boyfriend, which reportedly upset Carr. While standing in the garage, Carr allegedly grabbed a power drill and threatened her with it. Fearing for her safety, the victim armed herself with a knife.
Carr then went into the house and retrieved a firearm. He returned to the garage with the weapon tucked into his waistband and reportedly told the victim, “I’d kill you if I could get away with it.”
Moments later, Carr pointed the firearm at the victim and fired a single shot. The bullet did not strike her.
The victim fled the home and called 911. The couple’s children were not home at the time of the incident.
Deputies said Carr appeared intoxicated when they arrived at the scene. He declined to speak with investigators.
Carr was arrested and charged with attempted murder. He was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond due to the domestic nature of the charge.
