A registered sex offender has been arrested in Hernando County for failing to meet state registration requirements, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
Jesse Arthur Hunt, 46, was arrested on March 11 and charged with one count of failure to register as a sexual offender within 48 hours and one count of failure to complete a 30-day transient registration. He is being held without bond at the Hernando County Detention Center.
Hunt was convicted in Hernando County in 2022 for lewd or lascivious exhibition involving a victim under 16 years of age. As a result, he was designated as a sexual offender in Florida and required to comply with state registration laws.
According to detectives, Hunt’s history in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s (FDLE) Sexual Offender and Predator System (SOPS) showed no record of a completed sexual offender registration after his release from the Florida Department of Corrections. Upon his release, Hunt reported that he would be living as a transient sex offender in Hernando County, requiring him to register within 48 hours at the sheriff’s office and complete a 30-day transient check-in registration. However, detectives determined that Hunt had failed to meet both requirements.
On March 11, Hernando County deputies located Hunt and placed him under arrest for violating his registration obligations.
