The second in the series These Roots Run Deep will feature Dr. Elaine Sullivan. Dr. Sullivan was born on the family farm off Powell Road and later attended Hernando High School. After graduating from FSU, she returned to Hernando County and served as an educator throughout her career, which included 17 years as principal of Hernando High.
Elaine’s family roots trace back to pioneer settlers the Richard Crums and the David Hopes. The Museum curator, Autumn Reish, has been working with Dr. Sullivan to create fantastic information boards that bring her extensive research to life. As you might imagine, the research covers many branches of her family tree.
The opening reception for the Roots Run Deep exhibit will be on Sunday, March 30th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dr. Sullivan will give a short address at 4:30 p.m. after which tours of the exhibit begin. Refreshments will be served. Free admission is included, but donations are welcome.
