Community members gathered Friday in the Jury Assembly Room at the Hernando County Courthouse for the 36th Annual Victim’s Remembrance Program, hosted by the State Attorney’s Office of the Fifth Judicial Circuit.
The solemn event is part of a statewide effort to honor victims of crime and support their families. While each of the five counties in the circuit holds its own ceremony, all share a common thread — remembering with love.
This year’s theme, “United in Grief, United in Healing,” was reflected throughout the program. Springstead High School seniors Santiago Pinkey and Malachi Robertson opened with a heartfelt rendition of Mariah Carey’s “Hero,” setting a reverent tone for the afternoon.
Guest speaker Saray Snyder shared a personal testimony of loss and faith following the tragic death of her four-year-old son, Joshua. Quoting Psalm 39:7, Snyder offered words of hope and healing to those navigating similar grief.
“Grief changes shape, but it doesn’t end, and we want to walk with you,” said Division Chief Conrad Juergensmeyer in closing, echoing the event’s theme of shared sorrow and support.
The ceremony served as a reminder that while grief may never fully fade, no one has to face it alone.
