A registered sexual offender was arrested earlier this week in Hernando County after authorities say he failed to comply with Florida’s registration requirements.

On April 14, 2025, Chad Mathew Henderson, 45, was arrested on one count of failure to register within 48 hours after release from incarceration and one count of failure to register bi-annually.

Henderson was originally adjudicated guilty in 2001 in Wayne County, Michigan, for attempted criminal sexual conduct involving a victim who was 13 years old. As a result of the conviction, Henderson was designated a sexual offender in the state of Florida and is required to follow ongoing registration mandates.

According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, Henderson was arrested on March 18, 2025, by the Florida Highway Patrol for driving under the influence. He bonded out from the Hernando County Detention Center the same day and began residing at an address on Clovis Lane in Spring Hill.

On April 12, 2025, law enforcement received information indicating that Henderson, who had previously been living in New York, had been residing at the Clovis Lane address since his release on March 18. However, he had not registered his new address as required.

A review of Henderson’s Florida Department of Law Enforcement Sexual Offender Profile System (SOPS) revealed that his last completed bi-annual registration was on July 17, 2014, also in Hernando County.

Detective G. Marcacci made contact with Henderson at the Hernando County Courthouse on April 14. Due to his non-compliance with FDLE sex offender reporting laws, Henderson was taken into custody and transported to the Hernando County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond.
