Brooksville, Fla. – While on routine patrol, FHP Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a white 2015 BMW 328i for an expired tag violation along northbound I-75 near the 301 milepost. The driver, later identified as Anh Tuan Nguyen, 37, of Brunswick, Georgia, displayed overtly nervous behavior and Troopers noticed an intense odor of cannabis. FHP K-9 “Titan” was deployed and quickly alerted. Upon searching the vehicle, FHP Troopers located eight pounds of marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle, seven grams of cocaine in the rear passenger compartment and over $20,000 in U.S. currency secreted in the glove compartment. Also located was equipment used for vacuum sealing the marijuana, as well as two other driver licenses and credit cards not belonging to Nguyen. The cash, drug paraphernalia, and drugs valued at nearly $25,000, were all seized by the Troopers and Nguyen was delivered to the Hernando County Jail, charged with felony possession of marijuana and cocaine, possession of another’s identification and possession of drug paraphernalia.
