Approved during the Consent Agenda at the February 9, 2021 Board of County Commission meeting,  a Mass Transit Shelter Agreement between Hernando County and Bayfront Health  Spring Hill authorizes the county to install a bus shelter within the hospital property.

The shelter will be located on the northwest side of the main entrance that faces Quality Drive.  The construction will consist of a concrete pad, the shelter itself, a bike rack, and a trash receptacle.

This project is part of the Transit Division ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Bus Stop Improvement Program that consists of the design and construction of bench and shelter foundations, as well as the fabrication and installation of standard passenger bus benches/shelters.

Hernando County will be responsible for the maintenance and repairs of the bus shelter. The initial term of the agreement is for 5 years with annual renewals for up to an additional 20-year term.  The county will also be responsible for the replacement and removal of the shelter when necessary.

This shelter location will provide a connection and transfer point between TheBus Blue Route and Pasco County Public Transportation (PCPT) Route 20. Bus shelters provide patrons with safety and protection from the elements.
