A Spring Hill woman is facing felony charges after being accused of stealing a car last week.
According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) , on April 8, law enforcement personnel stopped the driver of an allegedly stolen vehicle on Mariner Blvd. In Spring Hill. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the day.
The vehicle contained three occupants including the driver who told deputies that she was unaware that it had been reported stolen.
One of the passengers was a suspect in the stolen vehicle investigation, and was observed to have had the vehicle’s keys prior to it being stolen.
Deputies subsequently arrested Crystal Ariel Hovis and charged her with Grand Theft Auto.
At the time of her arrest, Hovis appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance and could not respond to deputies’ questions about the incident, the HCSO said.
She was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center where she is being held in lieu of $5,000 bond.
The case is pending.
