AG reminds Floridians to get ready for active hurricane season

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody advised Floridians to prepare for an active Hurricane season during a press conference  in Tallahassee this week.

Florida’s hurricane season begins on June 1 and continues through Nov. 30. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts that between 13 and 20 named storms will occur during the 2021 Hurricane Season including 6 to 10 hurricanes that could affect the State.

That’s a lot of storms that Floridians need to look out for and prepare for,” Moody said “So whether this is your first hurricane season as a Floridan or your 50th, now is the time to prepare.”

To help Floridians do that, Moody said that her office has prepared a 2021 Hurricane Guide. Available in both English and Spanish the Guide includes storm preparedness tips, and recommends stocking up on enough food and water and emergency supplies.

We know that stocking up on food and water and emergency supplies is always recommended,” Moody said. “We now recommend that that be done for 3 to seven days.”

She also advised consumers to be sure that products they purchase are made to be hurricane proof.

Make sure that storm related products are actually built and manufactured to\withstand hurricane or impact damage,” she said.

Finally, Moody said that the No Scam Price Gouging App can be downloaded into consumers’ cell phones to help them report suspected storm-related incidents of price gouging or fraud. Available in both English and Spanish the No Scam Price Gouging App can be downloaded for free through Apple and Android stores by searching No Scam.
