The Chop Block Grill is located in a strip mall that many years ago was anchored by Publix. The strip mall is located where 41 and 98 split on the 41 portion of the split that continues into downtown Brooksville. If you are confused by that description the address is 691 Broad Street in Brooksville.
They are billed as a date place restaurant and they are a higher end restaurant. They recommend that you call ahead and make reservations.
The inside is tastefully modern including a large beautiful three piece quilt wall hanging.
The fresh house bread was warm, soft and buttery. The calamari was excellent. It was lightly fried and came with a sriracha sauce along with a traditional tomato pomodoro sauce.
The ribeye steak comes with two sides. You have a choice of soup, salad, potatoes au gratin, broccoli and several other delicious sounding options.
The New England Clam Chowder has large pieces of clams and is a creamy buttery base.
The burger is enormous. Their french fries are thin thick cut fries. That description is accurate but confusing. The fries are cut so that they are a half inch wide and a 1/16 of an inch thick. They are covered in salt and rosemary.
The portions are large and many of the pasta dishes offer half portions, which would be a good option if you don’t have an enormous appetite. You also may want to eat a smaller portion to save room for dessert.
The desserts are excellent. We tried both the limoncello and berry mascarpone cakes. Each cake has flavored mascarpone between the layers. They both were delicious and not overly sweet.
