Gov. Ron DeSantis has filed for re-election as Florida’s Governor in the 2022 election cycle. The Republican incumbent governor officially filed his candidacy with the Florida Department of State’s Division of Elections on Nov. 5.
Democrats US Rep. Charlie Crist and Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services Nikki Fried previously filed to challenge DeSantis for the gubernatorial post.
Crist, who currently represents Florida’s 13th congressional district, filed his candidacy on May 3, 2021. Fried filed on June 1, 2021.
Florida’s Primary Election will take place on Aug. 23, 2022 with the General Election slated for Nov. 8, 2022.
