Detectives from The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting at a residence in Eastern Brooksville.
HCSO Media Relations Manager Denise Moloney said that just after 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 9, deputies responded to a possible shooting at a residence on Robb Road in Brooksville.
Upon arrival, they found one adult on the ground and an adult male standing in the yard holding a firearm.
Deputies subsequently secured the firearm and took the man into custody.
Personnel from the Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) arrived on the scene to treat both adults, however, the adult located on the ground was pronounced dead after sustaining at least one gunshot wound.
On Feb. 10, deputies arrested the man found at the scene holding the firearm and charged him with premeditated first-degree murder. He is being held at the Hernando County Detention Center without bond.
“Investigation has revealed this case is domestic in nature,” Moloney said. “With that being said, we will not be providing the name of the arrestee, so as to protect the identity of the victim.”
She declined further comment.
