Plenty to nosh on at the Jewish Food Fest

On Sunday, March 20th, from 12 pm to 4 pm Temple Beth David held their 26th Annual Jewish food fest. The event included Jewish favorites like matzo ball soup, challah bread, chopped liver, noodle kugel, stuffed cabbage, blintzes, potato latkes, and much more. There were also assorted baked goods including: apple strudel, hamantaschen, mandel bread and brownies. The labels on the packages said, “Made with Love.” You could eat at the temple where there were tables set up or take the food to go.

Fran Marretta said that she loves all Jewish foods, but never gets to have it. She grew up in a Jewish neighborhood. She had blitzes, latkes, and chopped liver. “I loved it,” she said. Her husband John had matzo ball soup. They ran out of cheesecake so they had the cheese danish instead.

Noel, who is visiting from Canada, made the drive from Sarasota after he saw one of his friends post about it on social media. He sampled many dishes including the chopped liver.

The food is the main draw, but there were also many vendors selling a variety of items from kitchen towels to umbrellas to metal sculptures made from aluminum cans.

The synagogue members do a lot of work and cooking for this event and many people look forward to it every year.
