BY THE HERNANDO COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ON THE FY2022 PROGRAM OF PROJECTS (POP) FOR THE HERNANDO COUNTY MASS TRANSIT SYSTEM (TheBus)

ALL INTERESTED PARTIES are hereby notified that the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners is making application to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for program funds under 49 U.S.C. Section 5307, Urbanized Area Formula Program of the Federal Transit Act, as amended. The Program of Projects is detailed below to coincide with the “Fiscal Year 2022 Full Year Section 5307 and Section 5340 Urbanized Area Apportionments.”

On May 10, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners is scheduled to review the FY 2022 Program of Projects budget at a public meeting. The meeting will be held in the County Commissioners Meeting Room, Room 160 in the Government Center, 20 N. Main Street, Brooksville, Florida 34601 at 9:00 am or thereafter. Please visit www.hernandocounty.us and follow the Board Agendas and Minutes link to the specified public hearing. This notice of public involvement activities and time established for public review and comments will satisfy the FTA’s Program of Projects requirements. The grant application will be made based upon this Program. Any changes to the POP or funding apportionment will be posted at www.hernandobus.com and will be considered the final FY 2022 POP.

Operating Budget: $596,000

Operating assistance includes the transit operator contract, fuel, legal advertisements, non-capital vehicle repairs and maintenance, vehicle graphics, general office/operating supplies, signage, travel related to training, meetings, and workshops, safety devices, equipment, and other associated eligible transit operating expenses. Operating assistance is estimated based upon net costs after system revenues have been deducted.

Capital Program Budget: $2,869,009 Federal Share
Capital projects include:
$ 940,000 Replacement of two (2) Fixed-Route Buses
$ 200,000 Replacement of two (2) Paratransit Vehicles for Americans with Disabilities
$1,000,000 Design, Engineering, and Construction for ADA Improvements for Bus Stops
$ 350,000 Vehicle Preventative Maintenance (Capital)
$ 39,000 Acquisition of Eligible Transit-Related Equipment for Fixed-Route Vehicles
$ 20,000 Acquisition of Eligible Transit-Related Equipment for ADA Vehicles
$ 30,000 Site Security Upgrades
$ 40,000 Vehicle Security System Upgrades
$ 10,009 Acquisition of Miscellaneous Transit-Equipment
$ 240,000 Project Administration

Capital items are 100% reimbursable utilizing approximately 20% soft match from State toll revenue/development credits.
