John Anthony Caparco

John Anthony Caparco born Jan. 29, 1945, in Providence, RI passed away on June 21, 2022, at Oak Hill Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Nov. 5, 2022, at Merritt Funeral Home 4095 Mariner Blvd. Spring Hill Fl at 2 pm. Service information may be found at merrittfuneralhome.com
John began work as a cabinet maker in 1963 and went on to teach woodworking at Cranston East High school. During his 23 years teaching, he earned BS and MS degrees from Rhode Island College. He went on to earn a Graduate Studies Diploma from the University of Connecticut. He joined Woonsocket High School as assistant principal and later became the Principal.
John was heavily involved in RI hockey and was inducted into the RI Junior College hall of fame. He also achieved the rank of Rensi, 6th-degree black belt in Uechiryu Rye Karatedo. John and his wife of 50 years were rabid U Conn Women’s basketball fans. They also enjoyed sailing on Narraganset Bay in an Alberg 22’ boat John restored.
John is survived by brother Frank of Coventry RI, and sisters Marie Brenmon of Warwick RI and Sandra Caparco of East Providence. John is reunited with his lifelong love, true friend and mentor Beverly Caparco who predeceased John on August 14th, 2021.
