A couple from Georgia was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and operating a stolen vehicle after they were caught by deputies from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) while they were on patrol in Spring Hill.
According to HCSO Deputy Public Information Officer (PIO) Michael Terry, at 9:48 om on Nov. 30, the deputies were on a proactive patrol along U.S. 19 in Spring Hill when they spotted a vehicle that was recently reported stolen in Tampa.
During the subsequent traffic stop, the occupants of the vehicle, 31-year-old Leallen Jackson and Tequiria Davis, 29, told deputies that they were from Georgia, and that they had obtained the vehicle in the Tampa area.
They were both arrested.
During their subsequent search of the vehicle deputies found 240 grams of methamphetamine, 16.2 grams of fentanyl, 15.3 grams of ecstasy, and various other prescription pills.
In addition to grand theft auto, Jackson was also charged with amphetamine trafficking, trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in phenethylamines, possession of marijuana, and providing false information to law enforcement.
Davis was charged with amphetamine trafficking, trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in phenethylamines, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug equipment.
Both were booked into the Hernando County Detention Center. Their cases are pending.
